This is a genuine Roman Imperial, Detector Find & Polished, 200-400 A.D Aquila/Eagle signet ring. It has been polished to bring out the beautiful glow of the metal while keeping its unique history alive.

After polishing, natural patina marks and small corrosion spots can be seen on the surface. These natural marks are key signs that the ancient metal is 100% real and authentic. To further prove its authenticity, we have left some of its original patina inner side.

HISTORICAL CONTEXT:

Origins & Sacred Symbolism: The eagle (Aquila) represented Jupiter, king of the gods, and became the central symbol of Roman power after military reforms around 104 BC established it as the official standard for every legion.                        Military & Status Function: Bronze signet rings featuring an engraved eagle were worn primarily by Roman legionaries, veterans, or aquilifers (standard-bearers) as personal marks of identity and pride.                                                                 Official Seal & Authentication: The inscribed bezel served as a functional seal; soldiers pressed the engraved intaglio face into hot wax or clay to authenticate personal correspondence, official dispatches, and military legal documents.         Devotion to the Legion: Carrying the Aquila on a personal ring signaled absolute loyalty to the Roman state and the wearer’s specific military unit, reinforcing camaraderie among fellow soldiers.                                                                               Widespread Imperial Use: Common during the Principate and High Empire (1st to 3rd centuries AD), bronze was the practical material of choice for common soldiers, unlike the gold or silver reserved for elite officers.
